Saturday 15th November
-The Club conducted a Single Stableford round in conjunction with a
2BBB with a good roll up of 140 starters. The A Grade: was won by
the President Murray Patterson (5) with a very good round of 41pts
from Terry Palmer (11) with 40pts while scratch was won by Julien
Goldhagen with 34. The B Grade: was won by Paul Garnsey (17) with
39pts from Mick Casey (13) with 38pts. The C Grade: was won by David
Coggins (27) with the round of the day a great 42pts from David
Burke (21) with 38pts. The Junior round of the day was Jack Bartlett
(7) with 36pts
The 2BBB winners were
Don Bennett (21) – David Coggins (27) with a great 51 pts from
Terry Palmer (11) – David Burke (21) with 48pts at the presentation
all Don could say was hope he never forgets how to pick great
partners as he only had to contribute 4 times to the score.

Thursday 13th conducted a Single Stableford with a 2BBB in
conjunction and has been the case for most of the last few months,
the course was in great condition and scores reflected this.
The individual winner was Ken Johnston (22) with a very good 42pts
from Barry Reynolds with 41pts while scratchwas won by Alan Jones
with 33.Whilst the 2 BBB winners were J Small (17) – Ken Lowbridge
(14) with 47 pts OCB from John Kelley (16) – K enJohnston (22) with
47 pts. Nearest to the pin was Jeff Pails with 174cms. A good roll
up with 55 starters and the balls went down to 35.CCR was 69
The Tuesday Club
conducted a Single Stableford round and the Individual winner with
an incredible round was Ken Savage (19) with 47pts ( I don’t know
what his partner has been feeding him but I suggest you don’t change
it congratulations). Nearest to the pin 5th John Turner with
123cms,12th David Hay with 226cms The Bucket was won by Richard
Lamb. A roll up of 29 starters and balls went to 36 and the CCR was
69.

2008. The Club conducted a Single Stableford and a 2BBB split 6’s in
conjunction. The day was a cloudy overcast day but apart from one
heavy shower about 10.30 the day remained fine for a roll up of 110
starters. The A Grade was won by John Walsh (11) with 41pts from
Chris Rumble (10) with 40pts while the SCR winner was Mathew Hickey
with 34. B Grade was won by Mick Selman (15) with 40pts OCB from
Gary Moloney (15) with 40pts. C Grade was won by David Coggins (29)
with 40pts from Phil McNaughton (21) with 37pts. The Junior Trophy
went to Jack Bartlett (7) with 35 pts. The 2BBB Split 6’s was won by
Tony McMiles (16) – Roger Hale (12) with a great 71 which stood up
all day as the winners were the first group out Congratulations.

November 2008. A wet and misty morning was not the morning we were
hoping for, for the Monthly Medal Comp. But a good roll up of 125
starters reinforced how good the condition of the course is. The A
Grade was won by David Payens (12) with 68 from Wayne Dean (12) with
70 while the SCR winner was Neil Davies with 77. The B Grade was won
by David Loftus (15) with 67 OCB from (Mighty Mouse) Andrew Barclay
(17) with 67 while SCR was won by Mick Casey OCB with 84. The C
Grade and the guzzlers cup with the best round of the day was won by
Brett Wilson (28) with 61 from G.Poolman (28) with 64 SCR winner
was Damien Busst with 86
The Junior
Cup: Was won by Andrew Barclay with 67. October Medal playoffs were

A Stableford
was played by 21 brave ladies on Thursday October 23who ventured out
after Wednesday’s rain, sleet, hail and snow.The winner was Virginia
Bradstreet (21) with 37 pts and runner up was Di Smith (35) with 35
points. NTP 9th Ruth Smith. Drive & Pitch 11th Margaret
Haworth and the sweep was won again by Daphne Elms who must
know someone in the gambling game. Ball comp winners were V
Bradstreet, D Smith, E Bensch, T Elderfield, J Wood, M Haworth, E
Hamilton, L Schaefer and S Menin.

Saturday
25th October -The Golfing Gods smiled very broadly on the club with
a near perfect day and the course was presented in the best
condition that we have seen for years, great job Dean and his staff
from all concerned. It was the third and final day of the
Katoomba Tyre’s Service Eclectic Cup (see photos below). And a
good roll up of 120 starters assured a close result and we were not
disappointed with one group to come in we had 4 equal leaders in the
0 – 16 group. We also played a 2BBB in conjunction.
The A
Division: 0 – 16 group Individual winner was H. Do (13) with a great
43pts from D. Loftus(16) with 41pts while the SCR winner was Col
Stockley with 37. The B Division: 17 – 36 was won by Bill McMullen
(17) with 41pts from Russell Billinge (26) with 40 pts. The Ladies
winner was Marie Sandford (35) with 39pts. The 2BBB was won by Dave
Loftus (16) – Brett Wilson (24) with 50pts from H. Do (13) – A.
Valadartis (28) with 48 pts
We came to
the final count down of the Katoomba Tyre’s Service Summer Eclectic
Cup and we arrived at two winners 0 – 16 being Paul Stephens with 50
pts and 17 – 36 Russell Billinge with 52pts who then proceeded to a
50 metre shoot out on the 10th hole with the winner being Russell
Billinge who won a full set of tyres compliments of Katoomba Tyre
Service and Paul who won a voucher. Thanks to all players over the
three weeks for their participation and to Stephen for the
sponsorship and we hope we can do this again next year thanks again.

Thursday 16
October was President v Captain Day. A single stableford was the
event for the friendly tussle between the two teams. Twenty-one
players enjoyed perfect weather and a beautifully presented course.
This year
President Lea's team with an aggregate of 326 points were victors
over Captain Margaret's team, 287 points. Best score of the day was
by Tilly Elderfield (26) with 39 points playing for the President's
team. This result reduced Tilly's handicap to 25. Leura visitor,
Eun-Mi Lee (26) finished on 36 points from the Captain herself on 35
points.
Mary Muldoon
won NTP on the 9th hole 5.97 metres and Philippa Skinner was nearly
in the hole for 2 on 11th with her drive and pitch at 65
centimetres. Balls went to 32 points and the lucky sweep winner was
Evelyn Hamilton.
Men’s

Results
A Stableford
was played by 25 ladies on Thursday October 9 in beautiful weather.
Coming back to play after spending months on holidays, the winner
was Cath Hibbard (38) with an excellent score of 42 which she won on
a countback from Jenny Whellans . Needless to say Cath will
have a substantial drop in her handicap. NTP 9th was E Lee
1.55m and Drive & Chip 11th won by T Elderfield 2.60m. The
sweep was won by D Elms.
Men’s
Results.
Another
fine spring day greeted 127 starters in the first round of the
Katoomba Tyre Cup. The competition will be run over the next three
weeks. The final shootout to take place after the third round on the
tenth green. The divisional winners will compete to see who will be
Katoomba Tyre Service champion.
Saturdays
competition was a individual stableford with a Split 6’s in
conjunction. The division one (0-16 handicap) winner was Paul
Stephens (10) with a fantastic 42 points. Runner up was Frank
Tregier (14) with 41 points and the scratch prize went to club
treasurer Jeff Pails with 35 of the stick. Division two (16-45
handicap) was won by Phil McNaughton (22) with 40 points while Peter
Cowan-Lunn (18) with 39 points ocb. Two up and coming district
juniors Shae Elliott (40, Leura) and Jack Bartlett (8) teamed up to
win the Split 6’s with 70 points ocb from Frank Tregier and Col
Stockley (5).

(545cm), 9th Men’s Ed Perkins (145cm), 11th Ladies drive and chip

was won by rising junior Jackson Edwards (22) with 37 points, with
nearest the pins won by P Hollis (219cm) on the 5th and David ?Hay
(658cm) on the 12th. CCR was 70.
Thursday
competition was a individual stableford and 2 ball aggregate in
conjunction. Winner was Howie McIntosh (21) with 45 points ocb, with
the runner up Jackson Edwards (21). Howie combined with
Michael Bradstreet (19) to win the team event with 84 points ocb
from Lochie Graham (18) and and Andrew Car (14). Scratch
winner was Jack Bartlett with 33 points. Nearest the pin was Peter

Saturday the
4th October. The club conducted the Monthly Medal stroke round and
included a Putting Competition in conjunction. The course is looking
great and except for the night of heavy rain and a late morning
torrential downpour the day turned into some excellent scoring. It
also was our Annual President versus Captain Day and was supported
by a roll up of 100 starters. A Grade was won by Jeff Pails (6) with
65 OCB from Paul Stephens(11) with 65 SCR was won by D Kelly with
74. B Grade was won by D Loftus (18) with 65 OCB from Michael
O’Dwyer (19) with 65 while SCR was won by Brian Decelis with 83. C
Grade was won by Troy Aarts (28) with the round of the day 64 from
Zac Seidman (26) with 65 while SCR was won by Allan Bishop with 89.
The Guzzlers mug was won by Tony Aarts. Juniors was won by Zac
Seidman. The Putting Competition was won by Brian Decelis with 27
Putts.

Results
On
Thursday 1 October 17 players competed for the Monthly Medal in
two divisions. Tilly Elderfield (26) won First Division with 72
nett and also NTP on 9th (11 metres). A wonderful round of
golf was played by Anna Gardner (38) in winning Second Division
with 69 nett. Anna also won the 18 holes nett trophy. Putting
was won by Jenni Gorman with 33 and Mary Muldoon won drive and
pitch on 11th, just 1.1 metres from the hole. Balls went to 77

Those
who played the Club Medal on Saturday had to tough out very
heavy rain which almost flooded parts of the course. From the
nine starters, six finished and conditions did improve. Some
golfers are not deterred by bad weather and the odd soaking as
Magda Cawthorne (20) romped home with 68 nett. Magda also won
the Scratch with 88 and Drive and Pitch on 11th (30
centimetres). Putting was won by Lea Schaefer with 28. Balls
went to 75 nett. The playoff for the September Medal was won by
Linda Loftus (25) 75 nett.

27th September. The club Conducted it’s Annual Fire Brigade –
Children's Hospital at Westmead Burns Unit charity day.
With an
Ambrose round and we were smiled on by the Golfing Gods with a
perfect day weather wise and a good roll up of 126 starters. The
course was presented in great condition with thanks to Dean and his
staff.
